Drain the tranny fluid, remove the entire shaft. Have the entire thing rebuilt (CV shops usually do
24-36 hour turnarounds) then re-assemble.
I had both of my shafts rebuilt for a total cost of $200 back in 99. Accounting for all of the
world's troubles these days, and your total for both being rebuilts should be under $400. Then
you'll sleep well for years.
They're extremely easy to remove and replace. No need to buy one off the shelf from anywhere.
