You should continue to look. Having had the a/c put in 1988 in my 504. The
parts at this time were scarce and expensive. There is lots of wiring and
condenser and freon. You are probably looking at $1200-$1500 total. A 504 in
mint condition is worth $2,600. Hugo, my 504 and the a/c have been a labor
of love. Hold out for another 504, there are others that become available.
You will enjoy the 504 ride and reliability compared to your last Peugeot. I
also reworked the a/c in my 1971 BMW 2002 and that ran about $1100 include a
compressor and dryer from Vintage Air.
