This is follow up report on the 1987 505 turbo I was looking at to buy.
Under hard acceleration it would cut out at ~3000 rpm.
Peugeot-L responses gave me a quick introduction to turbos.
I responded to the owner that I would like to get a pre-purchase inspection.
He said he would also check it out. He took it to a transmission shop and
they supposedly replaced the clutch packs (ZF4HP22).
Has anyone come across a transmission problem with symptoms similar to boost
cutout? I'm guessing there was a transmission problem he knew about, but I
didn't recognize. I also wonder if the cut out was fixed, but since he now
wanted $1,500 more for the car to cover the transmission work, I declined
even going back.
But thanks for your help August, Rabin & others - all the information you
provided is also helpful for the recent TD purchase, and more questions will
be coming.
