On Sasi here from India. Hope you are doing well....
I want some info from you.. I might be acquiring a 1994 405 GR from a lady in the German Embassy in New Delhi, sometime in January next year. I checked the car a few days ago and met the lady and the car is in fantastic condition, with everything intact and hardly even a scratch anywhere..
My problem is, I am familiar with diesel engines, but not so much with the petrol ones except for the TU4 engine. Now, how should I make out what engine the car has? What all engines would possibly be there in the 405 GR? To me it looks like the XU9J engine, but I am not sure. Could you tell me specific things that I can look for in the engine which tells you which one is it? The lady in question just knows how to drive it and nothing else...
As far as I checked, it has a slim long tappet cover with the distributor at one end and the air filter is sitting in the front, behind the front LHS headlamp (as in my 1994 GLD). As I did not have the camera at the time, I could not take photographs, but I will try to do that next time....
