[Peugeot-L] 405 clutch link lube

Having just replaced the dreaded little piece of nylon that connects the clutch pedal with the cable, I'm wondering if I can slap on a gob of axle grease to reduce wear. The tab that runs in the clurved slot is what broke on the previous piece. Lubrication seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure what, if any, lubricants are compatible with that material. I figure, anything that reduces the liklihood of having to do that again..... Any ideas?
