I agree, it is sort of like putting a bandage on skin cancer

Pump the cavities full of dirty motor oil it stinks for a while but it works

You have to be carefull with those products. They sometimes create more problems than they fix. Out here in the salt belt it will crack with the weather changes then will hold the humidity in and create more rust. Did an oil change on my 304 Cab last week. Noticed that some of the undercoat was bubbling on the floor, now I have a hole to repair. It doesn't see salty road conditions. Water got between the undercoat and the floor and rusted it out. People look at me kind of strangely when I won't use a dirt road to save a few klicks (or miles), astone chip on the outside is easily seen and repairable, on the undercarriage, by the time it is spotted, it usually involves more work.

Several people asked, so I asked my mechanic. It was   called Heavy Duty Rubberized Undercoating by Permatex.   It dries in a greyish black color, and I'd certainly   recommend it to anyone looking to try and prevent any   rust.
