I have never had a problem with the abs on the 87 turbo, until recently. The amber light
always went out, then it started getting sluggish, where it would take like, I don't know, 45
seconds longer.
Then it started this thing where it would go out on startup, but as soon as I got rolling,
it would come on. The brakes were fine, as the system is designed to default to normal
non-abs braking when there is a flag. I was speculating that it is probably the sensor
wires that goes to the wheels. The insulation is so crappy it's unbelievable.
Anyway, I was putting new ball joints on, and they were tight as a witch's you-know-
what. So I took the struts off, and had a local machine shop here in town unscrew them
for $5 a throw.
Upon reassembly, I cleaned the ground wire going to the spindle, as it was rusty. Viola.
The abs light goes out super quickly now.
