Sounds to me like the cooling fans are only coming on when the ac is switched on
Pull the grille and see if the fans are coming on slow at 90 and high at 95 or there abouts
The 2 wire plug on the bottom of the stat housnig when pulled causes the fans to come on
the ecu is left front of glove box
write for the schematic
