[Peugeot-L] studded tires

Anyone driving through the Rocky Mountains (Rogers Pass, Crowsnest Pass etc.) anywhere north of 49 where ice accumulates on the highway will recognise the usefulness of studded tires. They are not designed for fresh snow but ice where conventional tires don't grip so well. Studded tires save lives. I have had many experiences where studs have helped keep me on the road. I routinely drive on roads with more than a few inches of very hard packed icy snow, polished to a very slippery surface by the spinning tires of the cars before me. (Stop and go Calgary traffic) The constant polishing means that it is nearly impossible to stop on these surfaces. The studs do help stop me. They should be taken off at the end of the winter of course because thay can be dangerous on bare asphalt and beat the crap out of the roads. Dan

  Why 'should'?
In Finland we have had studded tyres from the beginning of that   invention. Studded tyres have better grip when braking, accelerating   and on curves. I count my life so valuable that every meter saved on   the braking is priceless.
