Hey all,
On Cape Cod this weekend, after several days of
STELLAR post-brake job work (from my buddy Paul
Stein...fantastic work), I was cruising towards the
beach and the speedo needle was VERY wiggly....came
back out after a couple of beers at a local place, and
the speedo was dead. Ugh...
I had the cable replaced six years ago when I first
got the car and it was the two piece one. Needless to
say, my car needs a new oil level sender, so I ordered
that and what Western Hemispheres says is a one piece
speedo cable now that replaces the two piece one...it
also requires a cruise control sensor at the gearbox
if I want the cruise to work. All pieces are on their
way, though I can return them if it turns out the
cable just popped loose or something.
Is the two piece cable a bad design? What causes them
to fail like this? This is twice in 6 years....
Cheers,
Paul Hughes
'89 Mi16, now with permanent 91K...until the cable is fixed!
