[Peugeot-L] Re: vanishing brake fluid

Prepare yourself for some nastiness. I recently did the 505. It was under both the front and the back floorboards on the driver's side. I pulled the seat out, which was not bad, but I had to have the Torx 3/8, I forget which number, and also a 1/4" shorty ratchet for the bolt in the front. Craftsman has them cheap- they're just a ratchet that holds a 1/4" hex bit. Gotta have it.

Now my bolts are never-siezed. One thing about the seats- keep track of and replace the things at the bottom (under the car) that reinforce the seat. You don't ever want to accidentally leave them off, then need them someday. They hold the seat belts, too.

Seats out- lift carpet. Yuck. The factory foam is saturated and heavy. That gets torn off and placed into trash bag, or preferably, placed on some oil-dry, then the trash bag.

After you get that out, there might be some puddles of brake fluid. I threw an towel on them to get the worst of it. I put a coat of straight Lestoil on the metal and the rubberized coating on the carpet. Rubber gloves are in order! Brushed and sponged it around a little. I then rolled the hose over, plugged in the shop vac, and, rinsed. And rinsed. Then, the carpet got carpet shampoo. Did I mention the tylenols and beer?

I have a Vornado fan w/heat which works wonders, but I suppose that any fan would do. I got everything bone dry (long time), and put everything back.

Go new cylinders. I think. I know very little about 604's. You might want to pull on Brian Holm's coat.
