Well, I'd figure if the cam is a Peugeot unit, then go with their
recommendations. However, if the cam is an aftermarket unit, I'd go with
them. They're probably concerned about lubrication.
I'd call the cam people back and relate them the factory 3000 rpm
recommendation. They might agree or give you a good reason why 2 is what is
required.
I would figure any aftermarket shop would have a recommendation that covers
the lowest common denominator. Give them the additional information and see
what they say.
You rebuilt the whole engine or just the top end? You document it?

for a new cam break in, you're not supposed to go over 2000 rpm?
That's what the cam people told me anyways.....
