[Peugeot-L] Slipping a Canadian car into the US

From: Richard Stifel <pugh_at_comcast.net>

I’m considering buying a 504 in Montreal and was going to drive it back to my home in Maryland, but I can’t figure how to do it in one trip. I called US customs and for a 30 year old car, all they want is proof of ownership.....bill of sale and/or a “signed over” title. I can’t get temp tags from Maryland, so I thought I’d take a chance and drive home with tags off my Citroen, but I don’t know if customs would ask for and check the registration card. Canada won’t issue me a temp tag, will they?

Hate to think I have to fly up there, buy the car, fly home to register it, then fly back to pick it up.

Any suggestions??
