My insurance co and registrar will allow me 7 days of grace if I sell or dispose of my car before I have to do the paper work to transfer my insurance and registration to the new purchase.
It is legal with for me here in this jurisdiction.

Use an inspection service to check the car out, buy it through a wire
transfer if it does check out, get the title signed over and fedexed to
you, get a temporary registration, fly up there, pick up the car and
drive it into the country LEGALLY. And I would not judge you, it is
your decision to take a chance, but if I were to do anything illegal, I
would not advertise it in a public forum and with my name in plain
sight.

I'm considering buying a 504 in Montreal and was going to drive it back
to my home in Maryland, but I can't figure how to do it in one trip. I
called US customs and for a 30 year old car, all they want is proof of
ownership.....bill of sale and/or a "signed over" title. I can't get
temp tags from Maryland, so I thought I'd take a chance and drive home
with tags off my Citroen, but I don't know if customs would ask for and
check the registration card. Canada won't issue me a temp tag, will
they?
Hate to think I have to fly up there, buy the car, fly home to register
it, then fly back to pick it up.
Any suggestions??
