Steve,

I have mine on a 24 hr outdoor timer, comes on at 5:30 AM and shuts off at 9 AM
I usually leave at 7:30 and even at 35 below it starts well I never need to remember to turn anything on or off just plug in. I got a 1500 watt heater hose tank heater at a garage sale but this maybe a winter of rest for my TD Or maybe it will be a good heater for veggie oil when I get around to converting My Mi16 is much more winter friendly

  Robert,

I went through a lot of winters in Maine and Upstate NY with the   diesels in my sig. I got by just fine with a lower radiator hose   heater in each of them. I had an inside switch for an outdoor   receptacle, and even on the coldest nights, I'd turn it on when I   first got up, and the engine would fire up smoke free an hour or so   later. The heater was sending out warm air before I got to the road.   They were about $15, if I remember correctly, not too difficult to   install, and seemed to last about three years.
