In the time it takes you to pull up to the Customs booth when the car in front of you pulls away, the Customs person has entered your license plate into his computer and knows it belongs on a different vehicle. You are then directed to Secondary Inspection where you will spend a lot of time explaining. The likelihood of being allowed back into the country is very low. It's not an option: get Maryland plates for it first, and carry them with you when you visit Canada to pick up the vehicle. fs
