This is a new to me 1983 Peugeot 505S (XN6, ZF3HP22), 120k miles.
Anyone have an electrical manual for sale? Or link to one? Something
better than the Haynes manual. (many of the following questions illustrate
the need.)
Tachometer: doesnąt work. Is this probably a wiring issue?
In conjunction with above, instrument cluster removal: I released the side
tabs, but have a hang up somewhere in trying to pull it out more than ~ 1
inch. I donąt want to force it. Next step?
Alternator is putting out 14.1v, but has a whine that I associate with a dry
bearing. Any suggestions on what I should check further?
Parasitic Drain: I appear to have one; after a few days without use battery
voltage drops to 12.05v. (I still need to go over/clean electrical
connections & grounds and install the starter relay fix, or I might not have
noticed.) If I remove all of the fuses in the fuse box, there is still an
electrical drain (measuring voltage between battery and cable with cable
disconnected). Are there other fuses I might have missed? What, besides the
clock, is not fused?
Trunk lock: I gather on this year the trunk lock is not part of the central
locking system? (the only electrical wire to the trunk lid is the license
plate light.) Should I just be looking for a new lock with keys? Or is it a
big deal to have a key made?
The oil filter (napa/wix1340) sure seems small; any alternate/upgrade
recommendations?
