I had a similar experience with an insurance company with a Renault 18i wagon that I had just finished installing an engine in (literally that day) and they agreed add the cost to their initial offer...it may help you to present receipts to any recent work or upgrades that you made to your cars.

the French headlights about 6 months ago... End result - a check for $1100.
The following week his mom was rearended in her '90 405 sportwagon. Minor bumper
damage she'll live with. The adjustor gave her a check for $900 saying "If it'd been $50
more we'd've had to total it."
Both these cars were reliable, comfortable, enjoyable daily drivers. They're unique and it's
difficult, if not impossible, to find comparable or equivalent vehicles in today's market. As
we know.
I'm still keeping comp and collision on my Peugeots but mostly for the glass and so I can
decline cdw on rentals...
