[Peugeot-L] Dead car diagnosis procedure - Opinions please

My 405 Mi16 died on the highway 2 days ago.

After some thought, here's a diagnosis procedure for figuring out why it won't run when it has been running. What do you guys think ?

0. An engine needs sparks at the spark plugs at the right time and

fuel into the cylinders to run. So if an engine suddenly stops    running, it must be 1 of the 2 areas. No spark or no fuel.

  1. Does the engine crank ? If not or it cranks slow, something is wrong with the starting system.

If it cranks too fast, maybe the timing belt is broken.

2. Put an inductive timing light on the lead from the coil to

   the dist cap.

If it lights while cranking, then there are voltage pulses    going to the distributor, so the electrical system is    probably good.

Then the problem is probably with the fuel injection system.    Tow the car to the mechanic. Too hard to solve.

If it doesn't light, then the problem is an electrical one.    Start from the coil and go backwards to the ignition switch.
