The inductive timing light is not an accurate method of determining if there is enough spark
to start and run the engine.
I have been fooled once and I will not be fooled again.
A cheap $5-10 spark checker will let you see howmuch spark voltage you have.
Read the codes.
And see if there is enough gas pressure.
Be cautious.

2. Put an inductive timing light on the lead from the coil to
the dist cap.
If it lights while cranking, then there are voltage pulses
going to the distributor, so the electrical system is
probably good.
