No, that isn't how the system is supposed to work. We don't have "replacement value" insurance on these cars. We've bought only insurance for the market value. You get what the car's worth - what someone else would have paid for it - not what it costs to buy a comparable car.
A lot of folks here are always talking about how their Peugeots are terrific cars and provide a ride and comfort seen only on much more expensive newer cars. That's probably true, but it's irrelevant for insurance purposes.

That's exactly why the insurance company should pay $5,000. If it's
expensive to replace, then the insurane company should compensate you
accordingly.
