Alternator charging may just be brushes, I had an '86 505S gas with intermittentant charging and that was it. Didn't spring for the whole assembly (little black box on the back), had new individual brushes soldered in for next to nothing. No specific Peugeot parts involved, the guy didn't even know what it was for. Those little brushes can also hang up in the holder too...sometimes you can just tap on the holder and free them or take it off and blow out air. Steven

1985 TD Wagon: I inspected mine and the leak was coming out of a steering boot; told to replace the rack. Got it from Brian Holm $200 + $100 core charge. Will install this weekend, I hope, & report back then.

1987 XN6 Sedan: leak was coming from the high pressure hose. Obvious if someone turns steering wheel while you are looking at it. Cost $40 from AutoZone including shipping; not an exact fit (Powercraft 71368), but close enough.
