It can be a problem with the water pump, but when it's being mentioned
in terms of diesel engines, it's generally an issue with the cylinder
walls. This is generally only an issue with wet sleeved diesel
motors.

AFAIK glycol makes a lousy lubricant, and it will eat away at the
clutch packs in automatic transmissions. This is why I'm curious what
Peugeot has come up with.
