The 204 was delivered in Canada as early as 1966-7
The 304 was introduced in 1970.
They were Peugeots entry into FWD long before acquiring Citroen that had
been building FWD cars forever.
By this time most Renaults were FWD or close to it.
So Peugeot was sort of late getting into FWD
The 204 was slightly smaller in size mostly because of a stubbier trunk;
it had an 1130 cc motor
The 304 had a 1314 cc or there about engine it had a cushier interior
Both cars had the same front and rear suspension
The engines were transversely mounted in the front end and drove the front wheels
through a transmission in the oil pan that drove a dead center diff an 2 identical axles.
Both engines were aluminum blocks with single overhead camshafts.
The engines were a mini version of the V6 and ZDJL engines, looking identical under the valve cover
Both models came in sedans, wagons and cabriolets
with the 204 also available in a 2 dr hatch back coupe
Neither car was brought over to N America after 1972.
1973 saw the introduction of 3 mph collision standards
The perfect stainless steel bumpers on the 504 were replaced with the
ugly black plastic ones in 1974 when the collision standards were increased to 5 mph
Then came no gas and the 604 .....what timing

What was the 204 based on the 304 but smaller, same engine ?
I know the 304 was only sent here 2 years, Ive only seen one and I that many
years ago
