[Peugeot-L] Slipping a Canadian car into the US

Well I've done it. With apologies to all you Canadians who have lost a great car, there is now a lovely 504 PF Cabriolet situated next to my Cit DS21 in my garage outside of Wash DC.

The seller told me he went to Quebec motor vehicle administration and was told I could not get a temporary tag to exit the country so I came up with a plan....I would put the tag from my Cit on the car and drive close to the boarder. There, I would hire a tow truck to haul the car across the boarder. At customs, I would do all the paperwork and then have the tow truck take me into New York or Vermont where I would put my tag back on an drive home! This would be a whole lot cheaper than making two trips to Montreal.

Many phone calls to both sides of the boarder revealed that US tow drivers wouldn't or couldn't go into Canada to snatch a car but Canadian trucks could take cars into the US! So I had a Canadian truck all lined up for the job...was going to pay a little extra for his waiting time at customs.

Turns out the seller let me use his Quebec tag to get home.....took a lot of the intrigue out of the trip!!!!

Ok, what clubs should I join? Is the meet at Carlisle, Pa the only Peugeot gathering each year?
