Absolutely. Running relays is a good idea. Even at the stock
wattage, it'd be pretty easy to melt the headlamp switch w/o relays.
Keep in mind that the H4s (65/55) run higher wattage than the 9004s
(65/45) they likely replaced. If you're running additional H1s (~55w)
for your high beams, you're going to be running that much more
electricity through the switch. Relays are a good idea.
With the higher wattage bulbs, I've heard some reports from the Volvo
guys that they were able to crack the lenses pretty easily.
I've also heard some things here and there (and on Dan Stern's site)
about the cheaper reflectors melting from the heat of the higher
wattage bulbs. Dunno what the cutoff point would be there, but I'd be
careful
