Interesting that I come in from replacing my steering rack to this inquiry.

I'll 2nd Thanos recommendation of removing the PS belt. It is also mentioned to do that in my '85 owners manual; and in a discussion about this about 6 weeks ago, most concurred.

Until tonight, I've been driving that way. Good physical exercise for the arms & shoulders; avoid parallel parking in tight spots.

Replace the high pressure hose and see how everything works before worrying about the pump.
