[Peugeot-L] 89 Mi16 battery charge light - clarification

Thanks mucho for the responses. It turned out the serp tensioner had melted, but that wasn't really my question anyway. I was curious more about the fact that the charge light was flashing - with all the cars I've owned, I've never seen or heard of such a thing. Is that a previously-unknown-to-me Peugeot feature?
