[Peugeot-L] Gasoline smell

I have a 91 505DL wagon and a 92 505 SW8 wagon. Both have developed a smell of gasoline in the car if you drive with a window down. The aroma seems to be from the area of the fill neck and/or the compartment where the rear washer fluid bottle and vent hoses for the fuel tank are located. Can't find anything cracked or leaking. I've looked everywhere inside, outside and under the car. Anyone else come across this problem?
