It has been about a year since I have started my 86 505 wagon with
the XN6 engine. I could hear the fuel pump running but I was not
getting fuel to the fuel distributor so I changed the fuel filter
and the fuel accumulator. The problem did not go away so I checked
for voltage at the 15a fuse behind the ash tray. That voltage was
present 3 out of 8 starting attempts so I changed the tachymeteric
relay. After changing the relay the voltage at the fuse was there 10
of 10 starting attempts however still no fuel to the distributor. I
change the fuel pump and I started getting fuel to the distributor
the car still would not start. I checked the cold start injector
voltage and it was good then I took it from the manifold to check to
see if it was spraying fuel and or leaking. It was good. I check the
voltage to the ignition coil, I checked the spark plugs to make sure
they were firing and they were good, they were not wet or fouled. I
change the distributor because the vacuum advance was not working, I
did receive a different distributor but the seller assured me it
would not make a difference. The timing is correct. The last thing I
checked was voltage and fuel to the fuel pressure regulator, and it
was present. The engine now turns over once like it wants to start
then it will not do it again.
How do I check to ensure the fuel pressure regulator is
working? Are there any suggestion?
