I have heard similar stories with other cars that required the care of a
"trusted mechanic". Heard of one story where the family thought they would
receive the classic upon the passing of the owner only to be surprised that
the owner left it to the mechanic as he was the only one that would care for
the car the way he did.
I don't think it's an entirely crazy idea.
Good luck on the alternator, Larry. I don't have one, but I'm sure someone
here does.
