[Peugeot-L] 405 ignition

All:
I seem to have accidently inserted my 505 key into my 405. The 505 key has had the rectangular slot cut out so that its end is a two-pronged affair instead of the normal key look (I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about--it's a fairly common fix in these cars.) Anyway, after realizing my mistake, I inserted the correct 405 key into the ignition, but it wouldn't turn (exactly as if the steering wheel were locked.) I'm figuring I caused the same ignition problem in the 405 as I had in the 505. My question is: Can I cut out the notch in the 405 key as I did with the 505 key? Will this fix my problem? Anyone have experience with this? (This is my first 405 and I couldn't find anything in the archives ...)   Thanks
