Dear All,
I am posting this after a long time.
Come December, and I will be undertaking possibly the longest road
trip that has been done by a Peugeot 405 (possibly even other Pugs) in
the Indian subcontinent. I will be doing a 5000+km round trip from
Jaipur, which is in North West India (Rajasthan) to Kerala (South
India). Total distance is about 2500km one way and I expect to do
about 800-1000km locally in Kerala. I will be traveling through the
plains of Rajasthan and Gujarat before reaching the west coast of
India and from there onwards, the roads are along the sea coast
through Mumbai (Bombay) and Goa (the most famous beaches in India).
By now, I am quite familiar with my car and have a good idea as to
what can go wrong and how it can be fixed. I will be carrying spare
alternator belts, cam belts, fuses, hoses, gaskets and seals etc. In
case any of you have any advice on this, please let me know.
The roads are going to be predominantly flat and straight till Bombay
and then they will be winding along the coast with occasional 10-15km
stretches into the hills (not too steep). The roads are reputed to not
be in very good condition due to the heavy monsoons that have been
around, but repair work is on. So, I expect quite a lot of pot-holes
and patched up surfaces en route.
Could anyone tell me what specific care I should take regarding the
suspension of a 405? I am getting all the bushes and most of the
rubber parts changed before I go, but if I am to take any spares, what
all should I prioritize?
I am not worried too much about the engine, as it can be repaired by
any roadside TATA MOTORS garage, including replacement parts (dirt
cheap too!).
Do let me know your views in this regard
Cheers!
