          Hi everyone,

Sorry to post only when I'm in trouble, but...

My 89 405 DL just suffered only its third incident in a long streak of reliability after its ECU issues were fixed back in 1990.

I was on the highway when suddenly the battery light went on. I naturally assumed it was the battery or the alternator, but I noticed that the steering seemed a little harder. Sure enough, once I hit the streets it was obvious that the power steering was gone.

The car appears to start and the electric supply appears to be normal.

Any ideas? Is it normal for the battery light to go on when the power steering goes?

Thanks,

Angel Fernandez
