Bill, Since the car has only one joint, shoot for the straightest
possible driveshaft inrelation to the tail of the trans. Ie so the u
joint flexes the least.
Also but not sure how to measure is the perpendicularity of the d shaft
to the rear axle. Those long thin diagonal braces are actually attatched
to the axle tube with eccentric bolts. I suppose to avoid putting
bending stresses on the axle and driveshaft.

Hello,
Does anyone have any specifications for the set-up of the torque
tube/driveshaft in relation to the differential: angles, dimensions,
whatever? It seems that the underside of my car has sustained some
damage which makes the proper alignment difficult, and this misalignment
is what is causing the vibration, noise, and premature failure
of the u-joint.
