In 1971,on leave from the Navy I set out to drive my 64 Ford from
Dallas to Oakland.Just west of Fort Worth I noticed a growing deep
pitch knock.Having no money, little time before my leave ended and not
much choice I turned the radio up and kept going.I reached Oakland a
few days later and drove the car for about a year afterwards.I sold it
for $100 when I got transferred to a carrier.I always thought it was a
rod or crank bearing because of the sound. It was still running when I
saw it last.Great engine(390 v-8),not so great mechanic(me)Was I ever
really that young?
Good Holidays To All,Daryl
