Engine feels like it's "running on three cylinders".
Uh oh. I will predict that the head is severely cracked, with two
of the cracks running down the centre cylinder spark plug threads.
This happened to me with one of the 404 KF2 Injections some years
ago (1988) when I froze the coolant on a long descent, creating an
airlock and overheat when I was climbing a hill right afterwards. I
cooked the engine even though it ran that way for only about one
minute.
About a year later, the #4 plug was so tight that I broke two spark
plug tools getting it out. The engine seemed to be running fine
actually. A post-mortem a year later when I scrapped the car
revealed a nice dislocation-type crack right up the plug hole
threading. I still have that head (not sure why - souvenir?).
Years after that I bought a brand new head which I still keep in its
Peugeot box, as insurance against a similar misfortune with my 404 C.
