On...well...

  all US dollars!

other cars already sold from the collection:

1984 Vanagon Westfalia, 159k, excellent cond, auto, $13,000.

1986 Vanagon Westfalia, 120k, very good, manual, $16,000

1973 Beetle Convertible, ???k miles, very good, $8000

1980 VW Pick Up, gas, 140k, very good, $3100

1983 Rabbit Convertible, 130k, few upgrades, good cond, $2750

1973 Campmobile Westy, 130k miles, 6k on rebuild, auto, excellent $17,500

In pricing the 1979 Beelte Convertible with 4500 miles, we found a few interesting cars available around the world...Currently HERBIE THE LOVEBUG is up for sale for $35,000. Another 1979 Beetle Convertible, this one with 7500 miles, is also for sale. Not original, it was given a more "modern" custom interior and top and has not been kept in driving condition over its life. It is very nice, but has had body work, $37,000. A '62 Beetle Convertible sold for $41,000 in Florida last year. A few VW things have sold for over $25,000. And EXCLUDING the usual big money VW rare Vans (21 window, 23, whatever, which normally go for for $40 - 60,000), there have been 12 documented Beetles, Things, sedans, etc in the USA that have sold for $30,000 to $55,000 in the last few years. Not one was original, unrestored.

The world is the world and people are people, no matter what we may relate to or not.

Lots change in 10 years. Now those cars are vintage and worth a bit more. I agree $35k for a 79 Beetle Cab is pricy, but where are you going to find another one like that? Might take time to find the right buyer, but hey, they're out there.
