Conversely, back in the Seventies when I was servicing 404s and 504s,
and plugs and points lasted just 12,000 miles, I got talked into
using NGKs one year. I had to replace all of them at around 6,000
miles, and so went back to Champion N9Ys (the Peugeot-recommended
plug) which lasted a whole year. My customers were on a regular
3,000 mile service schedule so it was easy to track the life of the plugs.
