8-02-05 - Cylinder head porting

After the intake manifold was matched to the head, i decided to spend some more time cleaning up the castings throughout the rest of the motor. The head came first. The casting was actually quite impressive as it was, but still not perfect. The ports actually had mild angles cast into them on the inside of the bend radius as well as an angle where the port enlarged around the valve. These angular areas recieved the most attention during the process. Since it is an 8 valve head the job was relatively simple. The only precaution i had to take was not to hit the valve seats!

I got some decent pictures of where i did most of the grinding on the intake ports. Only a small amount of grinding was required to perfect the already-good ports. Notice the last picture in the Intake section, the intake manifold is shown mated to the head. Not a bad port match if you ask me!

Intake

I didn't get too many good pictures of what was done to the exhaust ports, although they pretty much got the same treatment as the intake did, plus some polishing.
